Focus Areas

Leveraging 25+ years of enterprise Information Technology business acumen, my approach trends toward strategic, solutions-oriented perspectives that are grounded in data, accountability, and a long-term vision for Richardson's future. I believe effective leadership begins with listening, building trust, and working collaboratively with residents, businesses, city staff, and fellow Council Members.  My initial Focus Areas include supporting responsible economic development, further augmenting safety programs, and strong fiscal discipline.  All of these are aimed at preserving our exceptional community that is the foundation of what makes Richardson a great place to live and work.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Strategies for city economic development focus on creating business-friendly environments, fostering innovation, and ensuring inclusive growth through targeted planning.  Striking a balance between the entrepreneurial spirit of small business & economies of scale where large business are concerned create vast opportunities for our residents.

SAFETY

It goes without saying that Public Safety is key.  "Social Safety" is also an emerging need in our community where social media & technology are concerned: Enablement & active best practices that guard our Children against trafficking and our Seniors against financial scams are areas of growth given how each are at pandemic levels of threat in our own backyard.

FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Transparent reporting, strict internal controls, and accurate accounting standards will continue to be paramount as we continue to be challenged with revenue compression.  Capped Property Tax rates, proposed limits on how much we can cut in our budgets, both from State Legislature, continue to challenge us to do more with less.  Creating new revenue streams as well will require increased levels of inspection and need.

COMMUNITY

I list this item last not because it isn't top of mind, but because COMMUNITY is the foundation for everything we do.  As a result, it is listed at the bottom as everything else is built on top of the exceptional community that we have in Richardson.  In our time, it is imperative that we come together for the greater good, understand that while we may differ in many areas, our sum is greater than all of our individual parts.  To borrow an old phrase that used to be on tyhe old RHS Spirit Ribbons for Football Games back in the 1970's, "TOGETHER WE CAN!".
